Sage Leland (16) is a rising junior at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto. She has been dancing ever since she could walk, but began training in classical ballet at the age of 7. She is a member of the Ballet America’s Junior Company in Redwood City and has attended prestigious summer intensives at Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco. She also is a member of the Gunn High School Varsity Dance Team, where they compete regionally and nationally in jazz and contemporary dance. Her passion for teaching began four years ago when she assisted her first pre ballet class, and she has since taught dance to various ages and skill levels, including assisting a free ballet class for low-income communities through Generations United. Most recently, she has been teaching virtual dance classes to elementary school students through the Growing Learning Center. Beyond dance, Sage is highly involved in the music community: she has been playing violin for 10 years and currently teaches virtual violin and piano lessons. Sage is beyond excited to share her passion for the arts with students while playing her part in educating children for a brighter future.
