About The Class:

Hi! My name is Colin (16) and I am a junior at The Nueva School. I’ve been an avid photographer for over five years and enjoy photographing nature and animals from my travels. I have taken various photography courses including advanced photography and Photoshop, and also pursued this interest of mine for my 8th grade year long passion project. In 2018, I entered some of my favorite pieces to the San Mateo County Fair and won 1st place awards in four categories including abstract, landscape, animals, and birds. I also was awarded “Best of Show” for photography all around. Most recently, I won four awards including a Silver Key and three Honorable Mentions in photography from the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. I look forward to sharing this passion of mine with anyone who is curious about photography and loves taking photos!

Develop your skills in the art of photography! This hands-on class is designed for young photographers who love to take photos, an introduction to taking cool and amazing photographs on your smartphone or digital camera. Students will go from knowing very little to gaining knowledge on how to confidently use a camera and take beautiful photos! I hope to teach students the basics of great photography including subject matter, lighting and composition, editing, and also cover the three pillars of photography (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO).
